This is a “Whitehall” alto sax made by Yanagisawa.

Serial Numbers: 83xxxx and higher, Later models have a neck brace and 7 digit serial numbers. Identifiable by the elongated pearl RH alternative F# key; the bent brass high F# key and the AS/TS110 stamp on the bell. Also notice the neck stiffener under the neck which is smooth and does not have a crease like the Paris horns. Instruments included slide trombone, cornet, trumpet, clarinet, Trombonium valve trombone, baritone, flutes and saxophones. Innovations 1920's Silver bells sharper sound brazed-on tonehole chimneys TheKing Saxello (soprano saxophone) both tilt neck and bell King Voll- True II 1934 first saxophone with both bell keys on the right side.
It was being sold back in the days when a Japanese name like “Yanagisawa” seemed foreign and the marketeers figured it would scare off potential buyers. That is far from the case now. Now, Japanese-made horns are esteemed as among the finest.
The serial number is 4701120. I wonder if this means it was made in 1970???
This horn is keyed up to Hi F#.

We replaced all the stack pads to get a better seal: D, E, F, F#, G#, G, A, Bb and C….as well as a few others.

The lyre-holder was removed before I received the horn. You can see some denting where it used to reside.
The horn comes in a Yamaha-syle case.
